Depressed
Not me. But loads of people.
Apparently the main anti-depressants don’t work any better than placebo. Says so on the beeb this morning.
What amazes me is that anyone is surprised by this.
The depressed folk tend (yes, “tend”) to be of a mind to want someone to help them; or something. I see it every day. Lots of my patients have depressive tendencies; the worse that is then the worse their prognosis is, generally. They’re the ones who want me to lay on hands and somehow hoover their pain away. When I say “do exercises” you can just see them sag and you know that no exercises will get done.
The sad thing is that one of the best treatments for depression is exercise.
I think people need to realise that the human body isn’t a simple machine that just needs tinkering with. It does need to be maintained properly and ignoring it doesn’t work.
The drugs don’t work. Well actually they might but if you rely totally on the drugs then you’re prolly doing something wrong.
Have fun.
