Then buy a plug in timer! They're only a couple of quid, and if your washing machine has a hot water feed it should fall well within the capacity (It may even be ok with jut a cold feed :-)

If you time how long it takes for your washing machine to run a full cycle, then subtract that from the time that you normally get home from work, and set the timer to switch on the washing machine at the right time, you can probably get it to finish the cycle just as you walk through the door :-)

Hurrah!

I long for a timer. The idea of getting home in the evening to a freshly finished cycle pleases me.

It was a cheap one. Mind you it was a washer/dryer so that makes it more complex.

I'm just going to get a washer next. I don't use the dryer very often so not having it isn't a hardship (was K's idea in the first place).

I was once told by a hotpoint engineer, that there's no point in spending big bucks on a washing machine.

Most people only ever use 2 of the programs at most, and the more complicated the washing machine, the more flashy bits it's got - the more likely it is to break, and when it does, the more expensive it is to repair.

Cheap is cheerful!
