The BJC and other conventions
Well it’s gone out in public that the Sheffield BJC is actually in Doncaster next year. Annoyingly it’s likely to be in March as Easter is early next year. This means I may not have enough annual leave available for the whole thing. Think I might have to have a chat with my boss about wangling early leave from next year’s allocation.
The other thing is that it’s in Doncaster. Not the nicest town but it is only a little way away from my parents’ place. Perhaps I’ll sleep there rather than camping. Perhaps. And if we can wing it I might be able to get my bro’s family to visit the folks on that weekend and bring the kids along for a day and into the show. That would be a giggle I’m sure.
[edit] Oh blimey I’ve just looked and the site’s got an ice rink. You must remember to keep me away from that. Last time I went on an ice rink I was on a first date. She broke her elbow; I never saw her again. Ah well, she was English, it wouldn’t have worked.
Other convention news. Bad news and really annoying as well. The Leeds con is in early December. I’m in South Africa in early December. I don’t think the commute will be worth it. So no Thai food for me. And one fewer convention than I wanted to go to. Looks like I’ll go to Durham instead now. Is it just me or has it been a quiet year for conventions in the UK?
Oh but Fundangos are on again starting next month.
Have fun.
