Worst fillum ever

A lovely houseful of lovely folk last night. P and C, Lizzah, Rod and Nicky showed up for pizza and fillums. Food was nice, company was excellent and giggling was done. Oh and Nicky brought some of the most shocking wine I’ve had for a while. Quite made my face go numb within half a bottle’s worth.

The original plan was to watch Casshern first then whichever of the 2 discs P bought me for Christmas last year. For whatever reason this changed to watching those 2 other discs instead.

First one was Razor Blade Smile. Quite possibly the worst fillum of any sort I’ve ever seen. The only fillum we’ve switched off just because it was awful. The acting was atrocious, the glamorous leading lady wasn’t anywhere near as sexy as she thought she was, the script was appalling, the camerawork was appalling. In fact there wasn’t a single aspect that wasn’t shockingly bad. If they can get that published then there’s hope for anyone wanting to get into cinema. Think the acting and script in the preamble bits of porn fillums - only with worse actors and a worse script. Uniformly dreadful. And sad to think that there are Goths out there who will have this as their fave fillum. (I’ve just noticed that many would want to finish the last sentence after its 10th word - perish the thought). Oh the fillum wasn’t foreign neither - no good for us.

So we couldn’t get worse than that with the second one could we? Thankfully the next one was quite a lot better.

Inhyeongsa (aka Doll Master) is a Korean fillum with scary dolls and was more than a little creepy at times. Good script and plot, ok acting although some of the casting was pretty poor, notably the high school girl who looked about 25. Compared with stuff like Audition and The Grudge this would be mediocre but compared with Razor Blade Smile it was like an award winning piece of celluloid goodness.

Then for some bizarre reason we ended up watching Chopper again. It is a good one but most of us there had seen it before. Having said that it was a while since we saw it and it came as a fresh piece of comedic violence. “Aw jeez Neville, you all right?”

Now I have to clear up after the filthy lot have all buggered off. Sigh.

A good evening.

Have fun.
