The other place I like is Turkey. Loads to see and do and very little of it involves the beach. Great shopping for K and interesting food for all. Plenty of ruins if that is your thing or Pamukkale if you are interested in natural wonders. Turkey, highly recommended. Pete Portugul is nice but possibly a bit beachy for you, you could try somewhere like Prague.
