Is a star.  And you should all know her name.

Quick biography:  She used to be a Latin and Greek teacher before becoming a stand-up comedian; as she says herself though – “I had no friends until I was 30″.

I heard her first on Radio 4′s Banter where she revealed that her boyfriend, for their first Christmas together, bought her a cel of Danger Mouse.  How cool is that?  She’s since been on another Radio 4 oldie called Quote Unquote.  This is really a dull programme with little redeeming value but I did hear the one where she was appalled that the other guests didn’t know where the “In a galaxy far, far away…” line came from.  They dismissed it as “well it’s for the uneducated isn’t it”.  To which her response was “Oh so my first class honours in classics (or somesuch) not good enough for you then?”  Marvellous.

Last night she was on Radio 5 as one of their regular guests commenting on the day’s news.  She revealed herself to be equally as opposed as I am to ID cards (humourlessly referred to by some as IDiot cards; even though I’m in the same camp as them).

Well she was also on Newsnight Review last week.  I discovered this yesterday.  They reviewed the Wii amongst other things.  If you go to their site here and then click on the pic at the top right wot says “Latest Programme” you can see it too (until tomorrow night’s programme).  The Wii bit is about 75% of the way through the show and they give it a good 5 minutes.  Someone’s put the thing on YouTube too but I can’t be arsed to find the link now.  She yet again shows herself to be a sounder judge than these stuffy intellectuals as she’s not afraid of actually having some fun.  Having said that Mark Kermode’s (top man by the way) views were quite entertaining too.

She sounds witty and clever and a solid judge of what’s good and proper.  See her if she’s on near you.

Have fun.
